Last week we took a peek at the new Venice Skate Park with Geri Lewis, the skate park coordinator and executive director of the Venice Surf and Skateboard Association. Lewis and Jesse Martinez are the two people responsible for making the park happen after ten hard years of work and Venice will forever be indebted to them for their selfless hard work. The park looks absolutely amazing and we can't wait for opening day.

this looks amazing. i wonder if the spot will become "localized" and discourage non-venice skaters. i say this because the man tonan in the picture above is known to be an aggressive local. I've seen him yell at a few people, the best was when he yelled at me and a friend. we were riding our bikes past breakwater, simply holding our surfboards and yelled, "kooks." i have also witnessed some of his associates punching people over waves. if he's a city employee, maybe he's got his act together. i feel better for venting.
