Vert (the eco-friendly clothing, lotion, baby, beauty products store) is closing "for now". Their website says the are relocating and the signs in the window say that the display cases are for sale Call them at 310 581 6126 for moving sale discounts.

Is "Closing for now/relocating" biz speak for going out of business, brick 'n mortar style and selling the remaining inventory online?

I donno .. but I assume that selling all the display racks means they may be taking a little while to relocate …

AK is just weird. I don't think I've seen anyone walk out of any non food related store with a bag. Upper Middle to Upper class womens stores can't make it here. In the same way a "Bert's Pool supply and Air Hockey Table Emporium" can't make it on Rodeo.
I understand why people want to own businesses but I can't believe what kinds of stores pop up. Bars, food, and practical stores should be peppered in between whats there now.
Here's what we need on AK, in my fat middle class white ass opinion .
- A real grocery store. Smallish. Normal. Somewhere to buy apples and toilet paper and non microwaveable goods
- A liquor store that stays open past midnight on Weekends
- A butcher/deli
- A bar that is more Hinano's than Brig/Otheroom. The Roosterfish is somehow the most normal down to earth bar on the street
- A diner that seats more than 30 people and is not Hals
- An indian food buffet…F yes.
- A fluff and fold/Tailor
- An actual bike shop, big and full of parts and bikes
- An art supply store
- A hardware store
- A sneaker store that sells more than japanese shoes
- A shitty thrift store that is ACTUALLY A THRIFT STORE not a $50 vintage shirt place
The End.

All of the above and:
A real general interest bookstore like Midnight Special used to be.

I also wish AK had more practical shopping and eating. I will gladly spend my hard-earned dollars to support local Venetians but the plain reality of it is that nearly every single store or restaurant is completely out of my price range. Like, not even close. Unfortunately, until rent prices decrease, the above-mentioned items are all merely dreams. With the continuing economic problems, this might be sooner than we all think. Hopefully we too won't be in the poor house then…

AK has been bleached into the land of impractical blandism.
If we want to see all of what Beaver mentioned we might as well start drinking jugs of Soma.
Here is a photo of Abbott Kinney shoppers taken there last week:

The Alpha & Beta's have taken over and plan on building more Dolce & Gabana Conditioning Hatcheries, beware.

No butchers, no bakers but a shitload of organic, hemp-wick, designer candlemakers.
