I bet that Dockweiler isn't the only place where RVs can legally park.
Just saying…
Mobile Resident said he parks there from time to time but doesn't like it as much as parking for free on his girlfriend's handicap placard in Venice so it must be legal. I think the NYT would be interested in his posts here VS his quote to them.

OfflineOh lookie:
http://travel.camp-california……-Angeles//
Here's a list of RV camps in greater LA area.
What do you know? Rose Lot isn't on the list!
Diane, Ibrahim, and many many other rv dwellers are an integral part of Venice.. what give Venice it's life! They are amazing artists, musicians, and activists, as are many others. They give an impromptu musical jam to the community every weekend, and some of my friends have their fantastic art hanging in their homes near the beach. In summation, they are very loved! Many people in Venice love them, and other RV dwellers, very much, as I did when I lived in Venice until a few years ago! The people of Venice, and especially the politicians who can effect change, should be doing everything in their power to allow people to sleep in RV's, and even in cars and trucks if that is all they can afford. People, especially surfers, artists, and musicians, used to be able to sleep anywhere along the coast, or anywhere in the nation really. Just because most of the other coast dwellers have banned people from living out of their vehicles does not mean Venice should. They are just doing their best to have a decent life, and to survive as artists and musicians, and take a dip in the ocean and ride a wave now and then! The community of Venice should show that they are one of the last bastions of caring and of artists in California, and do whatever it takes to enable people who live in their vehicles to live there! Just because they don't get much money for their art is no reason to throw them on the streets, then into jails, like garbage! Van Gogh sold one painting in his lifetime! The community should do their best to provide for the people sleeping in their vehicles. No, it is not right to dump urine on the street, but many of those same "homeowners" (usually the bank really owns the home!) take their little doggies for walks, and they piss where-ever they want. And don't punish all for the actions of one guy. In short, leave vehicle dwellers alone. They are an integral, loved part of Venice. We are all people, and should be doing our best to help fellow artists, musicians, and surfers get by, not trying to make their difficult lives even more difficult! I love Diane, Ibrahim, and many others who live in their trucks! Give them a break. You might be joining them sooner than you think. – Fred Schultz

OfflineOh come on! Yeah us law abiding tax paying residents are all being so bourgeois! We should just abandon Venice leaving all of our material goods & money behind so that they can fill in the canals with poop, knock down any decent structure & build makeshift barracks for the brilliant, wonderful, artistic homeless community. Wherever we wind up we should then work really hard & send all of our money back to continue supporting these amazing people. Anything less would just be selfish racist gentry evil.

OfflineMayor GrossCity: Rosie, WTF is going on in Venice? I have to read about what a sh*thole it's become
in the damned NYTimes? Fix this fast, or I'll come down there and stick a frying pan up yer as*
Rosie: ( Dressed in Mother Teresa's robe and headdress) Mayor, I know it looks bad but where else will these people
be able to poop on the street? Nobody else wants them to poop on their streets. I tried Brentwood but those are some
rich powerful motherfu*ers that live there.I'm scared of them.
Mayor GrossCity: Well, fix this fast, or I'll come down there and stick a frying pan up yer as*
Rosie: (Now dressed as Little Orphan Annie) Linda, The Mayor is very upset that the NYTimes is telling
everyone what a sh*thole Venice has become.
Linda: Look, I'm working on giving out free sump pumps to everyone who wants to park their Mobile Home in Venice.
Rosie: ( Now dressed as Job and covered with ashes) well you better do something fast. The Mayor is looking for a frying pan to stick up my a**
up my a**.
Linda: Don't worry He can borrow mine, if he wants to.

So am I, and 99% of my friends here. We are artists, musicians, activists, volunteers, entrepreneurs, etcetera. But we are part of a community that respects each others' space. We don't poop in each others' yards, either.
"Many people in Venice love them, and other RV dwellers, very much, as I did when I lived in Venice until a few years ago!"
Um, so how long have you been gone? Maybe you should come back for a while and check out the new scene.
"The people of Venice, and especially the politicians who can effect change, should be doing everything in their power to allow people to sleep in RV's, and even in cars and trucks if that is all they can afford."
Will you please pay my rent this month? It's due in 1.5 hours. Thank you.

So am I. I work really hard to do that. I have an art show here once per year, sell my stuff at a local shop, and constantly shoot all kinds of videos and stuff for free. Like I said: please pay my rent, buy my art supplies and camera equipment, and pay my DP and editor. I'm an artist, and I deserve it.
"The community of Venice should show that they are one of the last bastions of caring and of artists in California, and do whatever it takes to enable people who live in their vehicles to live there!"
Where in Los Angeles – ANYWHERE in Los Angeles – have you found people who honestly support artsy fartsy people? Where? Will THEY pay my rent? I'll settle for my car payment – FTW!
"Just because they don't get much money for their art is no reason to throw them on the streets, then into jails, like garbage!"
Pay my rent. And my car payment, and my cell phone bill.
"Van Gogh sold one painting in his lifetime!"
HE ALSO STALKED HIS GIRLFRIEND AND CUT OFF HIS F*CKING EAR.
"The community should do their best to provide for the people sleeping in their vehicles. No, it is not right to dump urine on the street, but many of those same "homeowners" (usually the bank really owns the home!) take their little doggies for walks, and they piss where-ever they want."
Last I checked, little dogs pee a lot less than humans, and also don't produce as many parasites or dump as many toxins, medications, or viruses into our ecosystem. and there are a LOT LESS OF THEM.
"And don't punish all for the actions of one guy. In short, leave vehicle dwellers alone. They are an integral, loved part of Venice. We are all people, and should be doing our best to help fellow artists, musicians, and surfers get by, not trying to make their difficult lives even more difficult!
Did you drop the check in my landlord's mailbox yet? I'm about to take a delightful bubble bath, so hop on that sh*t.

No, I won't. I'm willing to work crap jobs for crap money until I can do what I want full-time. The only help I ask for is referrals, and the only fundraising I do is for special projects.
