(69 votes) Here you go. Since these sh!tbags kindly dumped that one block from my house, I figured I'd take an evening stroll and share the joy. DISGUSTING. The trail of paper is still along the street… and the smell will knock you over. There is no drainage either… so the pool of waste is just brewing there. Bon Appetit!

OfflineThanks Alex. Correction to my last post….it's Pacific and Fleet. I don't think I can stomach what you did. A picture's worth a thousand words, a video worth a million. I'm a couple blocks away but have heard residents how bad it is at the original dumping site. There's probably more of it since they popped the cap and immediately started driving north up Pacific with it all pouring out. BD said there was evidence of it still coming out of their camper when the cops got them an hour later.

OfflineI have seen the same on Venice beside the Farmers Market on fridays. It always amazes me that in the fall women let their children play in the leaves in the place where we park our bikes, nothing but urine. I must admit I have never seen fecal material, perhaps Jim or what ever his name is, scoops it up before the start of the market.

Offline1 little detail I forgot to mention. From the minute I started screaming at her and the man about how proud they should be about
dumping sewage into our neighborhood the water works started flowing. I said you are crying because you got caught not because
you are sorry.
She cried The whole time. When the cops booked her at 77 th division she was stll crying.
God I feel horrible! NOT!

So Collins,
Are you saying that it is all right for these folks to be living here in Venice illegally on the streets in vans and RVs??? Because….?
Stop playing coy with us and tell us REALLY how you feel.
This back and forth bullshit wastes time and bandwidth and what is the purpose of these type of postings???
To remind us that most of the posters on this list are mean and heartless and should be ashamed of ourselves?
Are you another Devil's advocate…?
I felt the way you do when I started looking into this situation over 15 years ago, as I live near Rose Ave. I used to actually hear my diploma from San Francisco State dissolving in the dresser drawer… but after a while, I realized that it was far from the truth and there were organizations in Venice that were getting millions of dollars a year TO KEEP THIS ADVERSITY ON THE STREET. If they actually did get people off the street and into housing, they would get no more funding….
Stop yanking people's chains…..
It is very simple, If you believe that there should be a special place by the sea for what you perceive as down-on-their-luck model citizens, I think it is your duty to purchase some land up by county line and build your own personal campground for these folks.
If you are real dedicated, you could form a 501c3 nonprofit and actually get funding for the project – AS LONG AS IT WOULD BE all right WITH THE AREA ZONING AND USE REGULATIONS.
Venice should not be the testing ground for experimental programs….
You must remember (and these are LAPD statistics):
The LAPD absolutely credits this transient community with a 250% increase in crime in Venice.
Here are the facts:
- a transient absolutely did kill a pregnant women last year
- a group of transients absolutely did kidnap and repeatedly rape a 16-year-old girl under the Venice Pier last year
- a transient absolutely did stab a local man 13 times and left him for dead two years ago
- a transient absolutely did bash a man's face in with a metal fence pole and left him for dead last year
- a transient did stab a tourist in the hand on Ocean front Walk this year
- a transient did smash a skateboard in the face of a visitor this year
- a transient did start seven plus arson fires in Venice homes in the past few months

So, I am not not allowed to see this issue as anything but black or white? I'm not allowed to see this as complicated situation? I'm not allowed to see the people we're talking about as individuals, some good, some bad?
"What is the purpose of these types of postings?" I can't ask questions or think about this in shades of gray? I am either to be in total agreement with your opinions, your rhetoric and your tone, or I am tool of the social service-industrial complex, determined to destroy Venice?
Wow.

"In Internet slang, a troll is someone who posts inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum, chat room, or blog, with the primary intent of provoking other users into a desired emotional response[1] or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion."

A. I probably was a bit terse to someone who is new to this list. You have to understand that this subject has been gone over adinfinitum on these posts and in meetings all over town and behind closed doors in government offices for well over two years recently and for decades before in the Rose Ave. area. Your argument and plea for tolerance has been the hue and cry of the "let it be" opposition from the beginning…
B. Talk is good…. and so is respecting other's opinions…… but when the realities of life are not in sync with the views expressed, AND, things get out of hand to the point that they are today, with constant lobbying by small population representative groups for tolerance, the police ignoring existing laws and talking about the subject until the greater community reaches a consensus, based on visions of the problem as viewed by delusional individuals (visions easily countered by LAPD statistics). At that point it becomes a joke (a very bad and dangerous joke).
C. Unless you are a troll, and I am giving you the benefit of the doubt that you are not, you came in after the punch line and again were asking for the same thing as has been used to stall any progress on the situation for over two years….
Please educate yourself on the subject before bringing the same-ol' same-ol' to this list and understand the frustrations of this community at this time – the time to talk and exchange ideas is well past – If you have some solid solutions in mind, we all would love to hear them…
And to dispel some of the BS that has been floating around this community, no one on Yo or with the VSA or any of the other Neighborhood Watch or Safe Street activist groups has ever said that they oppose Bill Rosendahl's "Safe Parking" or "Park And Snooze" program proposal. Yes, they questioned the competency of the woman who was hired to do the research and presentation, the fact that the RFP is undefined and many of the community safeguards found in both the Eugene and Santa Barbara somehow, "fell off the table," but still support the concept…..
We also are unwilling to wait to do anything about the terrible blight that is increasing daily on our streets until these still undeveloped programs are implemented.
And yes, I'm sure that there are some reasonable and respectful people who live in the motorhomes, but they are overshadowed by the scumbags that trash the community on a daily basis
