There seems to have been some debate on that."

Yep,

The kids are hard to see when they are being hidden in order to keep them from the prying eyes of Child Services.

How can you equate RV living with bad parenting?

I am pretty middle of the road on the RV/OPD issue, but I gotta say, the rhetoric on this board makes me wince.    Are you implying that the guy who tortured his daughter is somehow typical of people who live in their RVs?

Can we start listing all the people who own homes and have committed heinous crimes?  That guy up near Tahoe who kidnapped the girl, impregnated her and made her and her kids live in a tent in his backyard -- wasn't he a homeowner?

I agree with everything previously posted on this topic.  Thanks, BD.

But, why Van Nuys?  Why not local?

well, living in an RV doesn't make you bad parents. But showing your kid where to dump the septic tank ceraintly raises some concern. A statistic that will never be taken but would interest me is how high the percentage of bad parenting happens in RV's and how much in homes.

Please spare me the question how to define bad parenting.

I also believe that livig in an RV sets the wrong sign for kids. It implies that getting by is ok. The chances of them becoming RV dwellers is high… I am sure it is nicer to get by in an RV in Venice (since they are the last ones to allow that here in S Cal) than actually moving somewhere where there is work and it is more affordable to live.

'Access for all to the beach' my ass…

To most people, the sky is the limit. To those who love aviation, the sky is home and Vne is the limit.

Apparently, they have to be brought to Van Nuys for booking. And for each guy arrested, you need 2 cops that

have to remove themselves from the Venice area  to take them to Van Nuys.

It's the height of stupidity.

Well, now that I have calmed down I will fill you in on a few more details. I was brought back to ID them

and do a citizens arrest. So I walked up to the dirt bags and looked them right in the face and proceeded to rip them

a new ass hole. I screamed and yelled at both of these idiots. I asked if they learned this trick from other trailer trash.

I called them pigs and told them don't ever come back to my neighborhood. I called them every name in the book.

I also told them this is exactly the reason we DON'T want campers in our community.

I asked what scum bag the child belonged to. The 29 year old said she was her daughter. Then I laced into her about teaching

her daughter this disgusting behavior etc, etc, etc. The 65 year old guy told me MY BEHAVIOR was terrible. OH MY GOD! I laced into him.

I turned to walk away and turned back to them and said oh by the way you fucking son of bitches are under citizens arrest.

The cops spent an hour looking for this pair of low lives. In the process they got a stolen car, but another unit took

the suspect into custody. The unit kept looking for them and arrested a sexual predator. While going to the station they spotted the camper.

They then took them both into custody. They arrested her because she was the one who pulled the  plug to the septic tank

They didn't want to put the child into the system.

The guy was also named as a suspect since he was the look out and drove away while it was emptying into the public street.

The did book her into 77th jail not Van Nuys.

This is NOT about camper families getting along or children's upbringing.

It is about 2 low life, scum bags, illegally dumping toxic waste into our city streets and neighborhoods.

If you think these 2 morons are the only ones who do this on a regular basis you are SADLY MISTAKEN!

What happened to the sewage they've left behind? Is the Coastal Commision sending out a special team to clean it up?

Would it be better for them to live on the streets?

I know there are some people who choose to live in RVs, but don't you think at least half of them are living in their vehicles because they are inch and a day away from living on the street?

So Collins,

Are you saying that it is all right for these folks to be living here in Venice illegally on the streets in vans and RVs??? Because….?

Stop playing coy with us and tell us REALLY how you feel.

This back and forth bullshit wastes time and bandwidth and what is the purpose of these type of postings???

To remind us that most of the posters on this list are mean and heartless and should be ashamed of ourselves?

Are you another Devil's advocate…?

I felt the way you do when I started looking into this situation over 15 years ago, as I live near Rose Ave. I used to actually hear my diploma from San Francisco State dissolving in the dresser drawer…  but after a while, I realized that it was far from the truth and there were organizations in Venice that were getting millions of dollars a year TO KEEP THIS ADVERSITY ON THE STREET.  If they actually did get people off the street and into housing, they would get no more funding….

Stop yanking people's chains…..

It is very simple, If you believe that there should be a special place by the sea for what you perceive as down-on-their-luck model citizens, I think it is your duty to purchase some land up by county line and build your own personal campground for these folks.

If you are real dedicated, you could form a 501c3 nonprofit and actually get funding for the project – AS LONG AS IT WOULD BE all right WITH THE AREA ZONING AND USE REGULATIONS.

Venice should not be the testing ground for experimental programs….

You must remember (and these are LAPD statistics):

The LAPD absolutely credits this transient community with a 250% increase in crime in Venice.

Here are the facts:

- a transient absolutely did kill a pregnant women last year

- a group of transients absolutely did kidnap and repeatedly rape a 16-year-old girl under the Venice Pier last year

- a transient absolutely did stab a local man 13 times and left him for dead two years ago

- a transient absolutely did bash a man's face in with a metal fence pole and left him for dead last year

- a transient did stab a tourist in the hand on Ocean front Walk this year

- a transient did smash a skateboard in the face of a visitor this year

- a transient did start seven plus arson fires in Venice homes in the past few months

Its sitting in the street on Pacific by Galleon all in its original form along with used toilet paper. My Husband just rode his bike by thinking there would be little to no evidence of what happened and was disgusted. Collins, why don't you take a bare foot walk down to that block and chk it out and get back to us? While you're down there why don't you count the number of dog owners unknowingly walking their pets through that filth that's still partially on the sidewalk. This is hazardous waste and I don't think you would be commenting the way you are if this happened in front of your bedroom window or front door. Please stop trying to take this forum off topic.

Thanks Boston Dawna. It's gonna suck when you leave.
