(301 votes) Hi paviasdad, I saw the Whole Foods tent this morning during their offering hours and then afterwards (I live just behind where they were set up on OFW) and again,as was the case last week, there was a nice respectable line of people waiting for food, and unlike on First Fridays on Abbot Kinney when they were done it appeared that about 99% of the people disposed of their containers in the appropriate trash receptacles.

OfflineI object to the use of the term "feedings" It sounds like they are sacrificing people to some caged monster. Or that a slew of crones are having strange adults line up to suckle at their teats. Either way it sounds icky.

OfflineI'm not sure if I missed it, or if the question simply hasn't been asked. Why OFW? Why doesn't this happen in Whole Food's parking lot?
I'm not opposed to charity for those that are hungry, I'm just wondering why, with all of the work that has been done to discourage the homeless and indigent from hanging out on the boardwalk, why the neighborhood should be ok with one that actively draws them back. Especially in the morning.

OfflineI care Shane, because I realize the problem could grow and I had a rowdy group of 5-6 across the street from my home a few years ago. And I don't think I'm alone in caring. There are pockets of homeless here and there south of Venice, I fully believe it's a problem that has to be kept on top of or it will grow like it's done on 3rd. It infuriates me that the homeless advocates always go back to "the homeless have always been here" when we all hear the different accents from other countries and the street people who will readily admit they're from Seattle or Colorado, etc. I think we could all get behind helping our own, we just can't keep up with the constant influx of people who come here and settle in to live on the street and scam tourists, rob citizens. The enablers need to stop!

I believe there is a an attitude that "Anything Goes" on OFW and that it is encouraged by residents of other parts of Venice. For example, no homeless problem south of Venice so why should they care?
Really? This looks loads like the entrance to the place next to Cabo on Washington.

Offlinevenicestakeholders I like your name, but my 2 questions are; How many people do you represent in Venice? Who is it that you are defining as venicestakeholders? The way I see it, WHOLE FOODS MARKET in Venice is a VENICE STAKEHOLDER, the homeless population are Venice STAKEHOLDERS. Therefore, before you make the Proclamation "it has to go", be certain that all STAKEHOLDERS in Venice have a majority position consistent with yours. It is my position that a "true" Venice STAKEHOLDER would say "it has to work" not "it has to go". That is my position as a Venice STAKEHOLDER since 1984. I could be wrong, but that is why I may not be a "true" venicestakeholder as defined by you and your organization.
