OnlineThanks, Ravi, thanks, Maisie, and everyone else who sent letters or emails. It's important for elected and appointed officials to know Venice residents want City laws enforced and these dangerous encampments disbanded. It would be marvelous if Bill Rosendahl and Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky would also find some shelter housing for those in the encampments who would take advantage of it, but that is probably more than we can hope for, given Bill's phlegmatic nature and Zev's stern opposition to any homeless services other than permanent, supportive (i.e., with services) housing for the long-term, chronic homeless. Concerned:Steve Gatto initiated a weekly call-in to City officials that resulted in the LAPD enforcing the law against the encampment at the parking lot where the Grand Canal crosses under Venice Blvd. We may get to that point with 3rd Avenue and the Farmers Market lot.

It was Telephone Tuesdays and Write in Wednesdays.
It turned out to be a successful campaign or should I say successful pain in the ass to Rosendahls office , Police station and Mayors office.
If Bret agrees to post it up again, I'm in! It was a great example of strength in numbers.

OfflineLast night a female transient rifled through someones mail at a residence on Park between OFW and Main (opening everything including the residents tax returns), found a house key, entered the home, made a frozen pizza and drank a bottle of red wine, then took a nap in the master bedroom. The resident came home to the transient sleeping in her bed wearing 'multiple layers' of the residents clothing. This would be a comical update to the Goldilocks story if it wasn't so potentially dangerous. This is the third major crime involving transients in the Rose and Venice corridors in as many weeks. The game of Russian roulette is getting more dangerous – there seems to be multiple bullets in the cylinder – not just one…
