(34 votes) If you are interested in running for a position on the Venice Neighborhood Council, it is time to start printing those pencils, lapel pins, yard signs and bumper stickers! The Venice Neighborhood Council Elections will be held on Sunday, October 28th of this year!
Newcomers take note! Some Neighborhood Council candidates take this stuff pretty darn seriously, paying for vans to pick up "their" voters from around town on election day! Make sure you come prepared to battle if you step into this amazing thunder dome of electioneering! Start the glad-handing and baby kissing ASAP!
PS: Next year's budget for Neighborhood Councils will be $37,500, significantly lower than prior annual allotments of up to $50,000 for each Neighborhood Council.

People we need to show up to this one and Vote Linda out of office. We need a VNC president that represents the wishes of the Venice residents. The current president is corrupt and is applying her limited power to keep Venice in a skid row situation.
First we need a better alternative to run! Anyone?

OfflineAs long as the law suggests that anyone who has just an INTEREST in Venice can vote in these elections, nothing will stop Lucks from getting re-elected.
As was done last time, the word will go out to people who live in other states but share the common goals of the Linda crowd. And the list of homeless who have addresses at St Josephs will join the voters.
The real majority of residents of Venice who want her out will not stand a chance, IMO.

OfflineDoes it matter who sits on the VNC Board?
Yesterday I went to the Zipline Hearing and the VNC representative read a letter into the record stating the VNC backs the Zipline. The vote to generate this ruling he said was 8 in favor, 6 opposed, 4 abstaining, which would leave 3 absent. 4 did not know enough to have a positive or negative opinion on what could be a significant change in the state of OFW?
So a very small number of people can control the VNC and speak for Venice and that voice carries weight in LA City Government.
If you've got a few hours a month and want to help Venice, please run.
This pontificator did 4 years on the board and a year on LUPC and it can be fun as well as draining and I recommend it.
