Several voters in Venice this morning were either turned away or voted provisionally, reports John Wellington Ennis of Video the Vote. "At the Venice Methodist Church on Lincoln and Victoria in Venice/Mar Vista, there are two tables for two different precincts," he explained. "This morning, only one of those precinct tables was set up and serving voters, while the superintendent of the other table apparently quit and did not deliver the necessary materials — poll books, voting machines, ballots, more."
By 10 a.m., he said voters were able to vote on regular ballot.
"Voting is never enough," Ennis said. "We must ensure that our votes are counted, that they are carefully collected, and that ballots are even accessible. The purpose of monitoring is not to harangue poll workers and civic administrators, but to ensure that citizens know their rights, know that others are looking out for them, and that the process can be observed and documented for improvement."

Makes sense. The first 2 years I lived in Venice every time I went to vote they couldn't find me on the list and I'd have to vote provisionally, even though I would walk in there with the ballot info send to me in the mail. To my Venice address. It was genius. I blamed LA though, not Venice. It certainly made me wonder if my vote would actually get counted or what was going on. 2 YEARS.

This may sound picky but it is a sore spot with many of us who are were born and raised here. That voting booth is in Venice. The term "Venice Beach" is used by tourists. "Venice" is used by the residents.

For Google Indexing I have to vary "Venice", "Venice Beach" and other search words. If I don't, Google and other search engines tend to think the site is about Venice, Italy. I agree it is kinda annoying and it also takes longer for me to type. Because of web indexing I also have to go through the extra effort of putting zip and area codes as well as add "California" to many posts … otherwise Google tends to index for 1) Venice Italy and 2) Venice Beach Florida.
Hope that explains why I do this.

I had to help the guys at one of the tables and fix the booth I tried to vote in. Peope were compalaining the pens you mark the ballots with were missing in all the booths except the Democratic. i helped them split up the pens and get the signs to stop falling over. I mean the volunteers were seniors and were having trouble with the whole thing.

Its all a sad shame. People need to vote. I gave up on polling places around here and vote by mail now. I don't know if that gets counted either though. It is Los Angeles, who knows.

Let's try this, again. (Ignore my reply to the wrong post).
