Thanks for the endorsement, rovinato.

But please, no one should take my word for why a project like this is out of character for the neighborhood. Do your own research and decide for yourself if this is what you want to see on AKB.

Many years ago the now defunct and replaced Washington Square building on the corner of Washington and Via Dolce wanted a helipad on top of the building. Residents decided that a helipad was not compatible with an elementary school and people living in proximity to helicopters landing nearby.

My point is crap like this is undoable and once it's in it's in. Want to call me anti-progress then go ahead but preservation is a value that can't be refuted. Look where they are proposing the hotel and look at the gorgeous building that stands there now.

I'm salty and that's what keeps me spicy ©

There is still an automated parking structure being considered on Electric between Santa Clara and California. Where the current city dirt parking lot is.

I heard it will hold 800 cars and be 3 to 4 levels tall.

Another one's being planned for the 'defunct' social club on Windward.

Fascinating.

Aren't there more pressing problems that need to be addressed ?

In Venice ?

Forgive me for being ignorant.

house of blues at fox on lincoln? trader joes on lincoln 400 refurbished units at lincoln place coming online soon. hotel on the kinney… a giant dotcom condo/campus at the bottom of sunet.. thousands of new units going up in the marina and santa monica.. and im shure a few more major projects going down that we dont even know about.  what is the future going to look like. ?do you think you will be able to afford it….? and do you really think you will ever find a parking space.?

the VSP does not allow the tying together all these parcels. and its a BORG. all that time & money and they design an unsustainable BORG (on 3 sides its a BORG, lame design). the 700+ new car trips a day will SUCK, & add in the car trips (& smog) from all the other unsustainable projects:

lincoln place, the new Gelina, old gelina (has NO parking), the Brig complex, joel silvers ( doesn't have nearly enough parking ), 1414 main ( doesn't provide enough parking & is the worst of all of these as commercializes the neighborhood ), arnold's office complex ( has no parking), firestone brewery, house of pies, 522 venice, and hoards of residential lots meant for 1 unit that are now cramming 3 units on. and lord only knows what i don't know about.

its gett'n real in the whole food's parking lot.  who enjoys traffic jams? who enjoys circling the block looking for a parking spot? who will enjoy the 3-5 solid years of mass construction in town?  we all suffer so a handful can make millions. venetians are being bent over.

its 2014-  can't ANYONE out there design something thats sustainable for the environment? the average minds of BORG architects are the ruination of venice, of the quality of air, of life. venice will be a PARKING LOT in 5 years time.

Never ending problem: Everyone wants to live at the beach!

NIMBYism has taken over!

"A" solution to the parking problem is to require all sfd's that have converted their garages to living space, return their garage to house their car.

In my area only about 15% of the homes still use their garages for a car!

But the answer I always get is, "my house is too small"; well move!

Stop whining!

You forgot to mention the Trophy Shop on Rose conversion into law offices and a restaurant with a seating seating capacity fo 62 patrons plus employees having only 3 parking spaces.

WHAT? LOOK AT WHAT CAFE GRATITUDE HAS DONE TO THAT AREA. IT HAD TO PROVIDE FREE STRUCTURE PARKING DUE TO ALL THE INTERLOPERS PARKING ON THE STREET – BUT IT HASN'T BEEN ENOUGH

HAS THIS TROPHY SHOP PROJECT PASSED THE REPTILE EYE OF THE LUPC ALREADY? I SMELL CORRUPTION.

The Trophy shop restaurant was approved by the zoning administrator with only 3 parking spaces.  The zoning administrator allowed the '19 virtual' grandfathered parking spaces that are out there somewhere in space.  So for law offices plus a restaurant with a seating capacity of 62 plus employees there will only be 3 parking spaces.  It will add a huge parking burden to the neighborhood.

dewey, THREE parking spaces?! ( which will be for the owners ). thats just a huge loading of stinking horse crap. Who is this 'zoning administration'? We need to get them fired & file corruption charges against the. seriously, names & contact numbers anyone? NO ONE with any intelligence or soul would approve that. that approval could only come via a bribe
