The “Main Street Road Diet“, which has changed Main Street from Windward Circle to Rose from a five lane street into a three lane street with a center turn lane and bicycle lanes on each side has been completed.

Srsly, Main St from Windward in Venice to Colorado in SM is a 4 lane urban street with a moderate amount of traffic. Was it really necessary to change the entire dynamic of that 2 or 3 mile stretch of road for a bike lane when cars, pedestrians and bikes have been using and sharing that street for decades?

Excellent! Now Main Street in Venice can be the same slow-moving ratf*ck that it is in Santa Monica! That's terrific! Thanks LADOT! Thanks Rosendahl!
You took one of the few streets in Venice without a traffic problem and f*cked it. I'll be thinking of you every day as I inhale fumes from the city buses in front of me, and as I try to pass the clueless tourists braking to read the parking signs.
This was a really stupid idea. Why did it happen?

You mean to Marine St. in SM, right? That's .8 miles and about half of it was really a squeeze for 4 lanes which is why I and probably a lot of other people didn't like to bike it.

You guys have to be f*cking kidding bitching about a few blocks of road. I see traffic moving better now because there was never really enough room for cars to drive in the southbound lane near the bus yard in the first place. Now no one has to try and merge over, and cause a bottle neck!
Focus on the important stuff.

I'm going to miss the second lane, coming south from Rose I always used to get a jump on the tourists by using the right lane (squeezing past the bus and being aware of the crosswalk), when I ride my bike through there I usually take riviera then hampton.
I just hope this means that you cyclists will stop riding on Pacific since you now have a bike path on the beach AND a bike path on Main…

it ain't just the lack of bike paths, we also need to make the sidewalks accessible too.
