So, who is going to actuall run for office? If we start now we can have an organization in place that can get out the vote and oversee the process. Or, we can do what we did last election.

I just can't imagine Lucks running for president again. Then again, this is a person who congratulated herself as a 'hot blogger' when the comments begged for her ouster or resignation.

Yes, let's organize now. October isn't far off. Who is the candidate who will serve the interests of people who live in houses in Venice and who want clean and safe streets?

iSea said,

"She did not mention that Jim Hubbord, her only opponent, got up at the candidate forum and said that he did not want the position and would not show up to meetings if elected; he simply ran so that Lucks would have an opponent rather than be the only candidate. So, she was triumphant over someone whoes election motto was "don't elect me" to a position that no one else in the community wanted."

Too bad Jim Hubbard did not defeat LL as he would have pushed for the permanent adjournment of the VNC an entity and unnecessary layer between the citizens and the paid elected officials.

Shane asked:

"Does this (stakeholder) include homeless with Social Service or Local Church "addresses?"

Sorry it took me so long;  I got distracted.

Tony Wilkinson of Department of Neighborhood Empowerment (DONE) told me for a person to be a full Stakeholder s/he must:

1)  Prove his or her identity:  picture ID, like a driver's license, and

2)  Prove she/he lives, works, or owns property in Venice, like utility bill with correct up to date information or property deed, or letter from an employer.  If you are already registered from a previous election, you should need only proof of identity (but I will also bring address proof).  And yes this apparently means that a letter from a social service giving proven specific location of street living could be acceptable.

So there could be room for interpretation depending on the documentation and the person(s) verifying the documentation.  Mr. Wilkinson (818 374 9898) said there is concern that there could be challenges of documentation of voters.  He will be the DONE observer/referee at our election.  He also told me that to become one of the voter documenters a person needs to take a short training from DONE.  Please call him for info on this.  If you are concerned about the validity of voters, I recommend you get involved at this verification level.  I was an observer at the last VNC election and observers were sequestered far from the actual validating so observing was pointless.  Anything could have been transpiring.

I also think it would be great if 11 thoughtful people would run for the VNC board.
