They're trying to decide if the name Hostaria del Piccolo is a dumb name and too foreign sounding for a restaurant but maybe a good name for a place to park your flute.

Thank you for reaching out! The hold up is general construction delays …. as always. We are expecting now a mid December opening.

General construction delays? Seems odd. Cafe Gratitude started construction at the same time and has been open for several months. Same for Superba across the street and that was new construction(ish). Methinks something smells fishy…?

yes, concernedneighbor, there is likely a hostaria del piccolo conspiracy. if you're so worried about it, you can drive over to their santa monica location. they are very nice there. they might even let you in.

Could be the Bilderberg group. I actually meant that it could be the city messing with them on permit or approval issues. I'm dying for some good pasta. Just hoping they break through the logjam and open soon. BTW – you are kind of angry…

Opens today. They went non-local to break the news, maybe they assume out of towners are where they will get their business from? … they haven't sent us anything about the menu etc etc, so here is all I know:

Drove by about 9 pm. It was packed. Standing room only. I understand that their place on Dudley will be closing.

The Dudley place is awesome – it is amazing food that feels like a real "find" for visitors from outside Venice. People can go look at the beach before or after they eat.
I am aware from wait staff that the boardwalk riff-raff have pretty much ruined any "romantic" vibe that that location has (once patrons step out the door) as of recently. That location is a daily process of getting rid of poo and pee on the sidewalk and then trying to give their patrons a safe enough street to walk down for dinner – I wouldn't blame them for wanting to move.
Sucks that we could have so many cool little side street cafes and ocean front cafes … not do-able with the current state of affairs on the boardwalk.
