OfflineI have the pleasure of working with some immigrants who started their lives in some impoverished parts of the Americas, and the one thing they just "don't get" is that some "rich" citizens in California willingly do not vaccinate their children and eat unsafe food products, such as unpasteurized dairy goods.
They have seen children die from the "cough of death" (whooping cough, Bordetella pertussis infection) and most people have tuberculosis by their adult years from raw dairy products in rural areas. I have literally seen tears start to well up in eyes as they told me about specific incidents.
I realize this is a contentious topic of public health vs. individual choice, but people, bacteria and viruses do not have political opinions or ambitions. They Occupy YOU!!! Some misguided hippy concept of health has now condemned the children in this article to a life of kidney dialysis. Think about it.
Strange how quick people jump on those who drink raw milk, but don't seem to fault people for eating eggs or chicken infected with salmonella or other bacteria. By and large, eating raw milk is as safe as eating factory-produced eggs and chicken.
Likewise, if you spoke to a parent of a child who was injured or killed by a reaction to a vaccine, it would be equally heartbreaking as your story of the child who was sickened or killed by whooping cough.
Some perspective is in order.

Lady GaGa accepted an award the other day. She was wearing a taylored meat dress. I think her perfume was made out of A-1 sauce. That, is what I call perspective. Food as fashion.

I love the Taylor Swift reference. And you should be there in the morning, when Lady Gaga makes the bagels.
