What is considered downtown Venice? Is it Abbbot Kinney? Is it Windward Circle?

Windward circle was considered the hub of Venice by design.

I rather like that we don't have a "downtown…."

I keep reading articles that refer to Abbot Kinney as "downtown Venice" but I agree with Johnnie.   It doesn't seem like "Venice" and "Downtown" go together.

Originally it was Venice City Hall, which is now Beyond Baroque. The local historians will tell you that the city of Venice went bust back in the 20's, when the treasurer absconded with the citys' nest egg of $5000.00. Broke and on the decline, the City of Venice agreed to become part of Los Angeles.

I'd like to think that Windward from the beach to the circle is the Center of Venice rather than a downtown.
