shantyirish said Venice has preferential parking? Where pray tell? How much is "plenty of money on parking permits"????

Only permits I've seen in Venice are east of Lincoln, between Penmar golf course and Ralph's. They limit parking between 2 am and 6 am. Standard cost for a permit is 68 cents a week. Doesn't sound like it will break the bank.

Yeah, I'm east of Lincoln. That is one of the reasons it is so pointless to me. Obviously no one is parking here for the beach. The neighborhood watch organized the movement so that we wouldn't get motorhomes on our street…but there never were any motorhomes on this street. the fees are nominal $45. a year for stickers up to 3 cars. and $20. for visitor passes every 4 months. the problem is the tickets if you forget to pay the permit in time and when visitors forget to put passes up. This happened to me 2 weeks ago. My roomates and I all got tickets, of which I had to pay for. Also we had to park on a different street while trying to get the paper work sorted out which 2 trips to the ticket office as well as one visit to the dmv. I admit this is my own problem. It is more the point of it. I don't feel like I should have to pay to park on my own street. I'm guessing people would be very happy to have permit parking by the beach. I am also guessing that it wouldn't solve the parking problem there because there are so many apartments in such a small area…and most of the apartments do not have enough parking for every tenant, nevermind the visitors…there would still be the same number of cars parking there in the evenings.
