That's interesting -- I've never heard of a traffic circle where entering vehicles have right of way.  (Not even sure how that would work if there was any kind of volume -- wouldn't you wind up with a huge jam in the circle?)

see 'Design criteria' section…

ah, Jersey has gone with no rules… genius  :)

the main thing ive been trying to make a point of in all my comments on yo venice is that venice would be better off with less cars.. less parking spots less streets… having a parking spot does not make for a great neighborhood… id rather we had a train down venice blvd that connects back to the expo line..and make lincoln one lane either direction..send people back to the 405 .. were dumping hundreds of millions into it right now just to add one lane… that will not change anything… we will just have more lanes of gridlock…..we need to stop making space for cars. i just heard the CEO of GM sat global warming is not real on bill maher last night.  this world will go down the toilet if all we can think about is the damm car.

With the doubling of marina del rey condo plan and the mega developments of playa vista and all the new small lot divisions in venice ,the googles, the resturants and whatever santa monica has tucked up its sleeve and most importantly the huge line at my taco tuck…

we have a lot being packed in here…. your car will have to go… so will mine..

My car went bye-bye 4 months ago and guess what I am surviving with just my bike, I also am making some extra cash by renting out my parking spot and that's a good thing ; )

Love your bike.

You take Maher seriously? That explains the hysteria. Move to NY.

Dexter makes a good point. Just adding more parking spaces (by parking diagonally or putting in big parking garages), will not get rid of the parking problem. It will just draw more vehicles from outside the area to Venice, and make the traffic here worse.

That being said, would absolutely support permit parking for residents in Venice.

Those who support permit parking in Venice are asking to have a new, government-run, fee-based program imposed on everyone.

This almost never turns out well.

For one thing, back when it looked like permit parking zones were about to be put into Venice, does anyone remember what the proposal was for guest parking?  Advance notice, driving over somewhere else to get the permit, stiff fees.  For another, as the city goes broke, how many people think fees for residents will stay low anywhere in the city?  As permit parking areas become standard throughout Los Angeles, the sheer number of target wallets is becoming too large for any politician to resist.

I wonder what the going rate is for renting a parking spot like Ms. Venice did? Sounds like a good idea!

Venice already has preferential parking on many streets, including mine. I for one voted against it (was that 4 years ago?). But I lost and now I have to pay to park on my own street. I am a homeowner, but my house does not have a driveway and only room for 1 car in the garage. I spend plenty of money on parking permits and get loads of tickets if I forget to send the check in time. It really sucks. You have no idea! Thank you Antonio Villagarossa.

I realize the government always wants more money, but why require payment for a permit?

Presumably they'd be able to write more tickets to violators -- that could cover the cost of a permit program, I'd think.
