The community is also invited to a "Celebration of Oscar" by the Boys and Girls Club of Venice on Monday, June 18th.

The family of Oscar "ChoirBoy" Duncan, Councilman Bill Rosendahl and the LAPD announced this morning that a $50,000 reward is now being offered for information that leads to the arrest of the killer(s) of Oscar "ChoirBoy" Duncan, the 23 year old musician and Youth Pastor that was gunned down Monday evening on Santa Clara Ave. in Venice.

Duncan was shot and killed after a possibly white sedan with multiple people in it approached him in the 600 block of Santa Clara. The occupants of the car, believed to be gang members, called out to Duncan drawing him near the car and then opened fire. Duncan was not a member of a gang.

Born and raised in Venice, Duncan attended Mark Twain Middle School and Venice High ('06), where he was both the captain of the football team and homecoming king. Duncan was employed at the Boys and Girls Club of Venice at the time of his death, the Club that he had attended as a youth. Duncan, described by a friend as a "true Christian man of God", also worked with the Takeover Youth Ministry.

Anyone with information about the slaying is urged to call homicide detectives at 213-382-9470 or 877-LAPD-247.

Seems to me like a perfect time for the Venice community, still very much segregated at times, to rally together and seek some justice for this senseless BS.  My heartfelt condolences to the Duncan family.

According to a source at the LAPD, it appears that the suspected (alleged) shooter in the Oscar Duncan case was taken into custody yesterday at 3:20 pm in the 8800 block of Cadillac Ave in Los Angeles. The arrest was made without incident, the suspect is presently behind bars.

Oscar Duncan's FaceBook page has some of the "unofficial" details … an official news announcement by the LAPD is expected Monday or Tuesday.

More details tomorrow when the LAPD Pacific detectives are "in the office".
