(25 votes) The LAPD West Bureau will be hosting their "Summer Carnival at the Beach" from July 13th- 15th at Pacific and Windward. The carnival will block off the Windward Circle and feature rides, games and food. It is open to all and free!
Line One of the Culver City Bus pickup and drop off spots will be changed during the event from the 11th-16th, so check your local spot for signage on where to go!

OfflineOkay, so I don't get it. The LAPD wants to hold a carnival/appreciation day – so they block off traffic on the Windward Circle, disrupting traffic, displacing parking and inconveniencing public transit.
So, what's wrong with holding this event down on the beach near the Sub-station? There is enough area there for the Festival of the Chariots, the freaking American Ninja Warrior – but not enough space for the LAPD to hold it's little party?
Brain-dead if you ask me!

OfflineRight, because it's just so wrong to have a little bit of fun. FYI there is an event every year at the circle and down that first block of grand ave. There is usually a car show, a stage with music and a couple of vendors. I don't know if that was held by LAPD. It is summertime at the beach, so quit being a bunch of whiney babies and get out there and catch a ride on a ferris wheel! (I have never seen rides at the circle…that would be so cool!) and if your worried about trouble and mayhem….um, I'm pretty sure the cops will be there! Hahaa!

OfflineI'm not against having fun, but I just don't get why you don't set this type of thing up down by the beach. It would be a much nicer setting than the Windward circle, and would have less impact on the residential neighborhood. After all, we're all so damn eager to have zip lines and everything on the beach. Not to mention that this will disrupt the neighborhood for almost an entire week.
The Abbot Kinney festival I understand. Business along there want to attract people to that area. The only business on the circle are a closed Post Office, a closed video shop, a Tattoo parlor and a Bank of America for God sake.

Don't forget the dispensary. I'm sure their clients will love having the LAPD in front.
The site from my front door is pretty alarming. I see eight full sized rides on Grand Blvd. and then on the circle there are at least another 10-12. There are four 6 foot bears right where I usually park. I've been here over 30 yrs and have had to put up with the craziness of the festivals…the art walks…4th of July…and I willingly do because I love living here. But this to me is pretty ridiculous, and a safety hazard just waiting to happen. Why on earth would LAPD want to add more jeopardizing situations to an already over-saturated typical summer weekend at Venice Beach? Have you all seen the Metro bus stop by the old post office at 7pm on the weekends?? There are so many people there waiting for the bus that on more that one or two occasions the helicopters have been involved in crowd control. The Yo Venice article says they anticipate 15,000 people will attend this event and come on, who are you fooling when you say this is for the Venice residents???? I doubt that anyone who lives here and will be totally disrupted from noon until 11pm for the next three days will be having any fun. And from what I saw on my walk as they were setting up, I see only 4 outhouses (and right across from my home). I am planning on locking my gates this weekend and I hope LAPD is prepared for the problems they are creating in the name of fun. I will be praying that things go well…hoping for the best but anticipating the worst.
