The 4th annual Venice Neighborhood Council "Venice Community BBQ and Picnic" will be held this Saturday, July 31st, 2010, from noon to 5pm at the Oakwood Recreation Center. The VNC will host the grill and entertainment, attendees are asked to "potluck" salads, sides and desserts.

Residents are encouraged to mingle with the new VNC board members. Firefighters from station 63 will be in attendance as well as a "bouncy house" for kids and trophies and prizes for the best BBQ, sides and desserts.

Actually guys – come visit me!
Our group (Public Safety Committee) will have a table with information on Emergency Preparedness in case of a natural disaster as well as a sign-up sheet if you're interested in getting involved in a neighborhood watch program. The LAPD will be there with us so you can ask questions about what's going on in the hood as well.
Neighborhood Watches are organizing all over Venice. Neighbors are meeting eachother, discussing issues their comunity's are confronting and baning together to look out for one another. I'm happy to help facilitate these for anyone who can get a group of neighbors together. One of the SLO's and I (or another member of our team) will come join you and share tips on how others are fighting back against an increase in criminal behavior.

This should be a great opportunity to bitch to these people about the RV situation, take some names and info about who to complain to and how to get our voices heard, and not just on a internet forum!
I wouldnt eat a "pot luck" side that some random person brought laced with god knows what!

"Potluck" has such a different connotation in Venice. Also, I think I am going to start referring to RV's as "bouncy houses".
This all sounds fantastic. I look forward to meeting a bunch of you from this board, and being insulted in person by others!
