After detectives began looking into the case and preparing a search warrant, a Lohan associate took the necklace to the Pacific Division police station, sources said. Lohan could face grand theft and second-degree commercial burglary charges if evidence supports that the necklace was stolen, prosecutors said.
Attorney Dmitry Gorin, a former prosecutor, said a suspect in such a case could face felony grand theft and second-degree burglary charges.
A conviction can result in probation or jail time. It could also be deemed a violation of her probation for a 2007 driving-under-the-influence conviction.

OfflineOK. Let's think about this. Lindsay gets out of the store with a $2,500 necklace all caught in camera. The owner of the store didn't call Lindsay right away to tell her she forgot to return the necklace or pay for it. The store is even blocks away from Lohan house.
I don't know if this guy went to the police to make a report OR he called TMZ first to deliver the news.
Lindsay went out wearing that necklace knowing that all the paparazzis they were going to take pictures of her. She is not that stupid to put herself in that huge risk if it was stolen.
Something smells fishy in this story.

For what it's worth, she did the exact same thing with a fur in 2008 and a Rolex last year. This is only ramping up because she's on probation but in the end, nothing's gonna happen. The DA has bigger problems.
