OK, it isn’t in Venice but it is pretty close (Washington and Beethoven area) and Yo! Venice! friend Derdre was psyched on it, so here is her review:

The Pitfire Pizza Company opens on the Westside

The Pitfire Pizza Company opened its doors this weekend. This is the fourth out-post for this popular Los Angeles based restaurant and just what Westsiders have needed. For being a quick service restaurant, it’s pretty damn sleek inside. Floor to ceiling sliding glass doors frame an open air patio (think beachwood).

The super thin pizza is a cross between Neapolitan and a New York style pizza. A wood fired oven makes their pizzas totally unique to this side of Lincoln. In addition to their pie’s the menu has great salads, pasta, Panini. They also have a “pantry” section offering fresh roasted farmers market vegetables (changes daily), hearty soups, meatballs and flatbread. In addition to the regular menu there are specials that rotate frequently. I had the short rib parpadelle that nearly made me cry. The drink section aint’ bad either. Well priced wine list, by the glass or by the bottle. The prices are great, I’d call them recession friendly; nothing more than about $10. Huge bonus, they deliver!
