Benice on Pacific is cheap, I dunno about tasty though…

Maybe its a proximity thing but I think Stroh's breakfast burrittos are pretty damn good.

Isn't eht owner of Brickhouse Cuban?  I'd hope the Cuban menu items would be good! 

Anyone been to Flake on Rose?  I've been meaning to go there.

Benice, no doubt.  if you just want some eggs, bacon and potatoes..it's your place.  flake seems just dumb ot me.  i can put banana's on my cereal at home for 1/2 the price.  figtree's is great but not cheap and not without a wait. i could leats at least 10 of my favorites but Benice is the most diner you will find.

Mmmmm…Rutt's also has a great teriyaki burger, not a traditional burger, but more of a brisket-like sandwich. Excellent!  Add a side of white rice and coconut sauce and I'm in heaven.

And Figtrees used to have a special in the AM that everything was half price between 8 and 9, they never advertised it, but the check would come and sure enough it was 50%. I used to live right around the corner and would go everynow and then, but I've since moved to another corner of Venice, so I haven't been recently and don't know if the special still exists. To me, Figtrees was just okay….nothing that spectacular…just okay enough that I didn't mind paying half price, but I wouldn't have paid full price.  They did have good scones though.

Benice is a great and in-expensive place to go;

Fig Tree is 'mostly' organic, good food, and if you go early in the morning breakie is half price. 

Terrace is not bad. 

Mercedes is pretty good but not sure why not many people ever go there for breakfast especially when I look across and see the Terrace really busy. 

New place on Admiralty called “Panificio.”  Good food, service needs work and has a nice view of the Marina.

Let's have a YoVenice! breakfast day once a week or month so people can meet each other offline.  Anyone interested in that?  Maybe try a new place every time.  Cut a discount with the owner if enough go and we post reviews online.  ???

It's not especially cheap, but the Meditirina Cafe on AK has a very good breakfast menu.  Their hash browns are the butteriest, most delicious incarnation of breakfast potato you can imagine.  Their breakfast burrito is also excellent and only $6 or $7. 

Another place I recommend for breakfast is C&O.  Yes, the trattoria… it's usually not too crowded weekend mornings (I haven't been there in a while so that might not be entirely true) and the eggs benedict is excellent.  The breakfast pasta bowls are also surprisingly good, even if a little odd for morning food.

And a question for everyone… was it just me, or did Stroh's not have the most bacony of bacon breakfast burritos?  I swear that the bacon they used was the smokiest and tastiest bacon ever.

A breakfast get together sounds grand!

Also…does anyone know about the origin of the name ”Benice”?  I've always been curious how they went from being called the HOT and HOT Too as I think they're the same owners. Is it a funny take on pronouncing “Venice” with a “B”, or is simply “Be” “Nice”? Or something else?

Meditrina is by far the best breakfast in town….

aj, leroybrown and lobomarino - all dead on.  medtrina and benice aka hottoo are my faves for two different reasons - one provides a different take on the average breakfast and the other perfectly and cheaply creates the average home town breakfast.  bon appetit!
