I live on Penmar and Venice and for the past few weeks my husband and I have been awakened to very loud booms. They are very frightening, and almost shake the house. I have gone outside but they are very sporadic and do not sound like anything I have ever heard. The closest sound that I can compare it to is a firework,, although that is definitely not what it is. Sometimes it occurs around 3 am, and other times on Sunday evening. Does anyone know what these noises are?

I've hear tale of some people liking cars that go boom (Tigra and Bunny I think).. but in this case it is probably more like what JJ Fad talks about "supersonic".. as in planes.

I doubt they are doing work on that at night, it's currently not causing road closures that would cause them to work at night. Are they doing any road or sewer work in the area? Or could some work be going on at one of the schools in the area that needs to be done at night so classes aren't interrupted? If it continues try Rosendahl's office for answers.
