"Skater Bill" has been performing on Abbot Kinney recently and a lot of people have emailed us asking what the story is. Here is a repost from 2010 for those that missed it the first time around!

If you live in Venice Beach, you have seen Skater Bill around town. At 65 years old, Bill is always out and about skating around and performing impromptu “shows” on his skate board. Venice residents Jay Zaretsky and Todd Mallis have made a short documentary about Bill, which is well worth watching! Click here to watch it "real" sized.

And Mar Vista. I've seen him miles from Venice. Bill gets around.

Ingenious.

I've always wondered who this guy is. I'm ashamed to say I never engaged him in a conversation. I don't think I ever said hi. I may have smiled, in an embarrassed kind of way.

I assumed he couldn't talk.

Assumptions. My loss.

Too busy, being me.

I'd say he may be one of the greatest performance artists Venice has ever seen.

His "act" is somewhat unnerving, in that he (at 65 years old) tumbles and rolls like a kid and acts like "life" is placing a random "accident" in front of you.

Only, it is no accident.

And unlike every other "performer", Bill never puts out a hat or asks for money.

Maybe the joke is on us and guys like Bill hold the keys.

Looks like he is psyched, and that is good enough for me.

I hope I am as fit as him when I get there!
