Want to see pianist Lars Vogt play Rachmaninoff with the Los Angeles Philharmonic (Robin Ticciati, conductor) this Friday, October 19th, at 8pm? The LA Phil has given us a pair of tickets to give away! Comment in the forums that you would like to go to win! The winner will be chosen at 4pm on Wednesday! (The winner will be picked randomly by using this online number generator. Response #1 will get the number 1, response #2 is 2 and so on …)

Lars Vogt plays Chopin's Nocturne

If you don't win the tickets, you can always purchase them online by clicking here! There are three shows to chose from this weekend!

From the LA Philharmonic:

Among their composers’ most enduringly popular works, Rachmaninoff’s Second Piano Concerto and Sibelius’ Second Symphony were both begun in Italy, about a year apart. All three of the pieces on this program in fact, were composed within ten years at the beginning of the 20th century, but each reveals utterly idiosyncratic hallmarks of orchestral color and musical fantasy.
Come for:

Lars Vogt – “one of the most extraordinary musicians of any age group,” according to Simon Rattle – plays Rachmaninoff’s lyrically moving and technically dazzling concerto.

And more:

Young British conductor Ticciati leads Sibelius’ Second with its exultant finale and is joined by outstanding German virtuoso Lars Vogt for Rachmaninoff’s beloved concerto.

Los Angeles Philharmonic
Robin Ticciati, conductor
Lars Vogt, piano
Liadov: The Enchanted Lake * Except Friday
Rachmaninoff: Piano Concerto No. 2
Sibelius: Symphony No. 2
