Charles Swenson Featured at haleARTS on August 9th

HaleARTS will host an opening reception for artists Charles Swenson, Jerry Shevick and Phyllis Stuart tomorrow evening, August 9th, from 5-8 pm. Drinks, cheer and fine art will be served. The group show will run thru August 21st.

Swenson,  a graduate of the Chouinard Art Institute in Los Angeles who spent years working on major animation and film projects in Hollywood as a creative supervisor and producer, has recently seen paintings from his collection being purchased for some very cool collections around town. Hanni El Khatib and Bombino at Santa Monica Concert Series Tonight!

The 29th annual Twilight Concert Series at The Santa Monica Pier will showcase Hanni El Khatib as the headliner with Bombino as the opening act this evening! As always, the concerts run from 7-10pm and are FREE!

Enterprise Rent-A-Car Moving to Washington + Lincoln

Fresh & Easy, the food chain owned by the British Tesco group, informed the Venice Neighborhood Council that they were “not moving forward with the site” that had been proposed for 3240 Washington Boulevard back in December.

It appears that the property has now been taken over by the Enterprise Rent-A-Car company, which presently has a “smallish” location at 2487 Lincoln.

VNC ‘Public Health and Safety Committee’ to Meet 8-9-13

The Public Health and Safety Committee will hold a special informational and planning meeting this Friday morning, August 9th at TOMS on Abbot Kinney blvd at 0930am. The intent of the meeting is to receive stakeholder input on expectations and opportunities to improve safety on OFW in light of the Multi-Casualty Traffic Accident of August 3th. If you are unable to attend please consider sending a brief and concise email summarizing your concerns and ideas in addressing the situation.
