Wondering what the spotlights are on Lincoln? That is the K-Earth “Pets & People Food Drive” to benefit the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank and the L.A. Animal Shelters. Stop in to donate food for both people in need and pets who’ve been abandoned!

This year’s on-air personality schedule broadcasting live:

Saturday: Charlie Tuna 11am-3pm & Sylvia Aimerito 3-7pm

Sunday: Charlie Tuna 10am-2pm & Bruce Chandler 2-6pm

C.A.V.E. Gallery: Restitution Taco Opening Tonight!

The C.A.V.E. Gallery will host an opening reception for “Restitution Taco”, an exhibition showcasing new works by Restitution Press, AKA Ryan Graeff, whose iconic imagery has appeared in the streets of Los Angeles for the better part of the last decade, this evening from 7-10pm.

Photographs used in the creation of the work were culled from the extensive image library captured over the years by (Yo! Venice! favorite) L.A. TACO, a website and artists collective whose mission is to “celebrate the taco lifestyle in Los Angeles, California”.

This solo show will feature a new collection of work that celebrates the city’s vibrant “taco lifestyle”. Borrowing from, and riffing on the signage and cultural iconography of Los Angeles’ legendary taquerias, trucks, and Mexican restaurants. Continue reading C.A.V.E. Teena Marie Mural v2.0

The Teena Marie Mural at 1902 Pacific is being redone, less than a year after being “completed”.

The mural, funded by Tony Vera and Mike Tyson, was originally to be painted by muralist Rip Cronk. After some “artistic differences”, Cronk stepped aside and muralist Jordan B. Nice created the 1st version of the Teena Marie Mural. Not happy with the outcome, Vera and his mural partners have now gotten Hector “HEX TGO” Rios to redo the mural. Rios is well known in LA for his iconic CONART designs and also as the founder of the “Hip Hop Shop”. Continue reading Teena Marie Mural v2.0
