VNC Board Meeting Agenda 3-20-12

The Venice Neighborhood Council will meet this evening at the Westminster Elementary School Auditorium starting at 7pm.

Of special note will be a presentation by LA County Board Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky, followed by discussion with residents after. You can read the entire agenda for the meeting by clicking here. A brief summary of meeting highlights is listed below:

1: Increase the budget for Summer Venice Beach area maintenance and staff for purposes bike path, trash pick up, lighting and bathroom maintenance.

2: Support for Legislation Supporting Venice Post Office

3: Support request for a liaison between LADOT and the 11th City Council District.

4: Request the Los Angeles Department of Transportation to provide accident and traffic speed data for Pacific Ave, north of Washington Blvd. to the Santa Monica border and on Washington Blvd. between Pacific Ave. and Ocean Ave.

a) Develop possible solutions to the traffic safety hazards along Pacific Ave. between Washington Blvd and the Santa Monica border.
b) Request the City of Los Angeles to install a crosswalk at Washington and Strongs Drive, crossing Washington Blvd.
c) Request for Crosswalk at Pacific Ave. and 25th Street

5: Zev Yaroslavsky, LA County Board Supervisor (7:25PM 45 Minutes — 10-minute presentation. 15 minutes for Board Q&A; and 20 minutes for Public Q&A)

6B: Results of Venice Chronic Homeless Intervention Project (10 Minutes) Va Lecia Adams on behalf of the St. Joseph Center

6C: PATH (People Assisting the Homeless) (3 minutes) Update on Councilman Rosendahl’s Roadmap to Homes Program. This report includes statistics on the number of people placed in permanent and temporary housing as well as the numbers of people in process.

6-D: LAPD Report: includes crime reports, updates on the status enforcement of the OFW Vending ordinance (LAMC 42.15) and new rules regarding the closure of Ocean Front Walk from Midnight to 5 a.m. and recent police activity

7A: Election to fill Community Outreach Officer
7B: Election to fill Ad Com seat vacancy by Community Officers

8: Land Use and Planning Committee Reports
