“C” Rating from Public Health Department?

November 21st, 2011 by Bret · 1 Comment

Lots of emails have come in asking what the new “C” rating Gjelina got from the The County of LA Public Health Department means.

Gjelina Venice Beach

The Health Department website has not been updated with Gjelina’s health code violations yet, but in general the rating system means:

A: 90 to 100 points – Generally superior in food handling practices and overall food facility maintenance.
B: 80 to 89 points – Generally good in food handling practices and overall food facility maintenance.
C: 70 to 79 points – Generally acceptable in food handling practices and overall general food facility maintenance.

Any lower than a C, they shut you down: 0 to 69 points Score Card Poor food handling practices and overall general food facility maintenance.

Gjelina’s new rating has not seemed to diminish the line of people waiting to get in.
