Local Weekend Benefit Fundraiser as Seen on TMZ!

In the spirit of Independence Day, Venetian Andrew Keegan hosted a benefit fundraiser on Saturday for Falling Whistles, a non-profit with Venice roots that strives for peace in the Democratic Republic of Congo and Stoked, a non-profit that brings action sports to under-served communities.

A neighbor reportedly complained about loud noise which brought the LAPD out in force and also ended up landing Andrew on TMZ  in the video seen here as well as in a statement made today.

From TMZ:

The “10 Things I Hate About You” actor tells TMZ … the event was more than a raging house party … it was also a fundraiser for three charities … adding, “The police chief knew about it … I employed 5 off-duty officers.”

Keegan says … when cops approached his Marina del Rey home and asked him to turn down the music, he WAS cooperative … even asking to speak to a sergeant “about how we can work together.”

But, Keegan explains, [the sergeant] ordered ‘arrest him’ while my hands were in my pocket … but they just wanted to make an example of their ‘No Tolerance’ Independence Day [policy].

Ironically it was “The Makepeace Brothers” that were playing music as the party was shut down.

Shortly before 9pm last night, a car struck a fire hydrant at Clubhouse Ave, flooding the street down to Westminster. Tony Vera was there with his video camera!

The geyser pushed water over five stories into the air, providing quite the show for all that watched the excitement!
