Last night around 7:30 the power went out for much of Venice and remained off well into the evening. The DWP had 30+ crews working around the city on widespread outages due to the rain and sloppy drivers hitting poles. Tragically Hinano was affected by the outage, causing some panic for those in need of a burger and brew.
Some major flooding also hit the Venice Circle last night and flooded some local ground level homes and businesses. Our sympathy to the residents and businesses there that had water damage.
The positive is this weather gives great views of Catalina. The ten day forecast says there is more rain today but sun for the rest of the week.
Cirque Du Soleil’s Kooza opens this Friday, October 16th at the Santa Monica Pier and continues until November the 19th, 2009. Kooza tells the story of The Innocent, a melancholy loner in search of his place in the world and is a return to the origins of Cirque du Soleil: It combines two circus traditions – acrobatic performance and the art of clowning. While pricey, if you have never seen one of Cirque du Soleil’s shows at the pier they really are worth the price of admission.
General admission tickets range from $65 – $135 and can be purchased here.
